Concern Khlibprom expects to increase its sales by reducing imports

Summarizing the results of January-July 2014 volume of imports of bakery products in Ukraine if compared to the same period in 2013, in physical terms has decreased by 11.6%. Total of 3.1 thou. tons of products to the amount of about UAH 80.4 mil. were imported to Ukraine.

"In this case we are talking about the bakery semi-products the imports of which to Ukraine, in our opinion, will be reduced in the future,” Halyna Yanyshivska, the Marketing Director of Concern Khlibprom PJSC comments, - There are clear trends that devaluation of the hryvnia will entail increase in prices for imported goods, and decline in purchasing power of population. At the same time we understand that there are products of European standard in Ukraine which can fully replace imports. For example, the range of Concern Khlibprom includes such items as hot dog buns, Ciabattas, baguettes, half baguettes, crisps. Share of bread made to European recipes in the portfolio of frozen semi-finished products of the Company makes up 75%. As for related products such as fancy bread and pastries, in particular croissants, the growth of sales in the domestic performance may also be influenced by the patriotic sentiments of Ukrainians. As in our country there has been an increasing trend recently to buy products of local manufacturer."

According to statistics, the structure of imports in terms of products in January-July 2014 was as follows: “Dry products and long-lived commodities” (29.7% of the total imports in kind),"Fancy bread" (29.5%), "Pies, cakes, donuts" (8.0%), "Other" (32.9%) - which includes frozen bread products, matzoth, toast bread, bread for sandwiches and long-lived bakery products.
