Concern Khlibprom received UNIDO environmental grant

26.02.2014

Concern Khlibprom JSC received a grant from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization UNIDO in the amount of $300,000 for the implementation of environmental and energy-saving technologies. The project, which the company has already begun to implement, envisages the establishment of complex utilization of flue gas from baking ovens. This will help the company to reduce harmful emissions and conserve regenerated energy. Thus, the utilized vapor will be used for heating water to hydrate baker cameras and to heat buildings.

The unique feature of this grant for Ukraine is its integrated approach. Unlike the typical lump sum benefits for equipment, Khlibprom got an opportunity not only to buy the equipment, but also to carry out a whole range of works on it and install counters for metering the energy consumed.

“Our cooperation with UNIDO started 5 years ago," said Vladislav Averchenko, CEO of Concern Khlibprom JSC. "During this period, the company enhanced its energy saving policy. The company worked with the International Finance Corporation, NEFCO and received a loan from the European Bank for the rational use of energy resources and reduction of impact of its operation on the environment."

"We appreciate the trust of international institutions and are ready to share a positive experience. For the baking companies, it means first of all a reduction in the cost of bread and lesser dependence on fluctuations of energy prices."
